My first trip is to San Miguel de Allende, in the state of Guanajuato, about 4 hours NW of mexico City. It's colonial, baroque and neo-classical - something for everyone - and played an important role in Mexico's independance insurgence. However the reason I came here now is that their Semana Santa (Holy Week) celebrations are reputed to be some of the finest in the country.
I'm staying in a little casita about 10 minutes out of town. We have horses, dogs, cats, turtles and a very loud donkey!
I have fast internet, my own rooftop terrace, and my bedroom has a wonderful ceiling.
I can relax in the gardens when I'm not pounding the streets of the town. It's great to have my own little haven, and my hostess Joyous Heart is friendly and helpful.
